THE THINGS THAT MAKE ME BELONG

Do you ever have days when you feel a bit sad?
When you’re grumpy and grouchy, moody and mad?
Do you ever have days when things all go wrong?
Well, what makes it feel better is to know you belong
To people, to places, to friends and your school
To belong to something is way beyond cool
Belonging feels great; like you’re in a big group
Like the cheese in a sandwich or bread and butter with soup

These are the things that make me feel strong
These are the things that make me belong

I belong to my parents because Mum, Dad, and me
And my really, really cute sister make up our family
We all belong to our homes, where we snuggle in bed
And eat breakfast in the morning (I like toast and chocolate spread)
It feels good to be together, I wouldn’t like it on my own
If I didn’t belong to my parents, then I wouldn’t have a home
Kindness, fun, and my new bike make a happy family
I like belonging to my parents because they created me

These are the things that make me feel strong
These are the things that make me belong

You need kind hearts and kind people to make a good school
‘Everyone is welcome, and welcomes’ – that’s the golden rule
A home to every student, one big family, me and you
A home of friends and fun, kind and vibrant Teachers too
It doesn’t matter who comes here, we always make them feel a part
Of our school community, right from the very start
We all have times when we’re kind, and times when we’re mean
But we care for each other; small kids, big kids and those between

These are the things that make me feel strong
These are the things that make me belong

We all have something we belong to that makes us feel both proud and smart
That puts happiness inside us and sunshine in our heart
Friends or town or village, rugby team or football squad
And let’s not forget that every one of us belongs to God
The living world around us, Planet Earth that needs our love
The oceans and the countries, the stars and sky above
We belong to one another; it’s what makes the Human race
Differences make us all special and no one is out of place

These are the things that make us ALL strong
These are the things that make us ALL belong
